Hadhramaut Silver Heritage Center: Preserving Identity and Ancient Craftsmanship
As the first specialized center of its kind in Hadhramaut, the Hadhramaut Silver Heritage Center was established in Seiyun through the dedicated efforts of Mr. Hassan Omar Bahshwan—descendant of the prestigious Bahshwan family, renowned for generations in the silversmithing craft. The center serves as a primary historical and research reference, documenting the artistry of silverwork that dates back to ancient civilizations.
Having represented Hadhrami heritage in international and local forums—from Washington D.C. in 2011 to various national exhibitions—the center is now evolving into a comprehensive study hub. Its mission is to safeguard this endangered craft by archiving rare collections, documenting ancestral techniques, and training new generations, ensuring that this legacy remains a vibrant cultural and touristic landmark reflecting the authentic Hadhrami identity
